Travis moved to Colorado after earning his BA in Journalism from the University of Maine to continue river guiding. He then pursued his career working as a news reporter for the Sky-Hi News in Winter Park and then as an Outdoor Business Editor for SGB Today, covering outdoor news and trade shows. He is now a production manager, crafting handmade bamboo ski poles and paddles in Steamboat Springs, CO. In the winter, he can be found skiing at the resort, backcountry, or mountaineering. In the off months, he splits his time between guiding whitewater on Clear Creek and the Colorado River, mountain biking, and climbing. He no longer lives in a tent but continuously pursues a minimalist, outside-all-the-time lifestyle while avoiding the “normal” grind.
