BEARTWO 10,000mAh Review
Our Verdict
Our Analysis and Test Results
A compact battery pack with impressive charging speeds and a lightweight design. It should be noted that the device's solar charging abilities are fairly abysmal and that it should be treated as less of a solar panel and more as a strong charging battery pack.
Performance Comparison
Direct Solar Charging Speed
Though it is the same capacity as many of the other small battery packs, the BEARTWO is an impressively fast-charging device. In fact, it charged our phone 28% over the course of our 30-minute test period. This is almost as much as its 42-watt competitor, which is astounding. For such a small battery, we were very impressed by its charging capabilities.
As a solar panel, the BEARTWO underperformed. It produced a mere 73 mAh while in direct sunlight. This panel should be considered an emergency use only and may not function very well at that. It's better to consider this solely as a lightweight battery pack.
Indirect Solar Charging Speed
With a 10,000mAh battery pack in a small package, this product recovers from interruption very well as long as the battery pack has a bit of juice in it. Much like other battery pack/solar combinations, this product works well when the battery is slightly charged. If you are relying only on solar, the small panel will have a hard time charging the 10,000 mAh battery on its own. That said, even when the battery is close to empty, the BEARTWO held a steady charge to our small devices.
In terms of the solar panel's ability to charge in a less than ideal sun situation, the BEARTWO underperformed. It barely charged in the full shade and even in the partial shade.Multiple Device Charging Speed
The BEARTWO has two USB ports, earning it a commendable score in this metric. It put out 923 mAh to the first port and 801 mAh in the second port, making it an average producer in terms of charging multiple ports well.
Portability
This is one of the most portable products in this review. It is so small and light that we hardly noticed it when it was in the bottom of our backpack. Its compact size makes it easy to use and a no-brainer to bring on any excursion. Our measured weight for the BEARTWO battery pack/panel is 7.6 ounces, making it one of the lightest products in this review. It seems like battery pack technology has significantly improved over the past few years since these small devices used to weigh as much or more as a fold-out panel. Nowadays, they are compact and significantly lighter, making them an ideal option for backcountry travel, where every ounce counts!
Should You Buy The BEARTWO 10,000mAh?
The BEARTWO comes in at the same price as most of the other panels with this battery pack/panel design. This product is durable, compact, and charges devices quickly, making it well worth the initial investment. With such a reasonable price tag and solid scores across the board, this model boasts a great value.
What Other Solar Chargers Should You Consider?
This is a portable, lightweight product that delivers a fast charge to two devices at a time, via a USB cable. We applaud it for its simplicity and fast charging capabilities. That being said, we prefer using the BEARTWO as a battery pack, as opposed to a full-blown solar set-up, considering the size of the panel. It's a great backup for travel or overnight trips into the backcountry.
In terms of other solar chargers, we liked the OEUUDD 25000mAh better because of its ability to charge more and handle multiple devices. The Dizaul 5000mAh Portable is another option which is a bit lighter but doesn't have as much charging capacity.
