Our Analysis

The Yeti 1250 Solar Generator from Goal Zero is a great new alternative to gas-powered generators. It debuted at the 2012 Winter Outdoor Retailer show and attracted a lot of attention. Goal Zero claims “unlike traditional gas-fueled generators, the Yeti 1250 never produces more power than is being drawn from it, so users needn't worry about wasting power or unnecessary maintenance.” The Yeti is equipped with multiple ports for multiple device charging. The output types include AC, 1.5 amp USB, 33 amp 12V DC, 6.6 amp 12V DC. You can charge it from a wall outlet in about 16 hours and from solar panels in 20-22 hours.

The Yeti is available as a stand-alone unit for $1500 or as a kit (includes solar panels) for $2000
