Our Analysis and Test Results
The iRocker All-Around 11' has some features that make it stand out. The board is stable and sports multiple options for adjusting and adding gear, and the included carbon paddle makes paddling a pleasure. Unfortunately, the addition of wheels on the pack makes it less comfortable to carry. This board also feels heavy to transport and takes longer to inflate than many others.
Performance Comparison
Stability
Feel free to bring a friend or pet with you — at 11 feet long, this bulkier board is quite stable. Although it falls short of a few other larger boards, it performs reasonably well in this metric. Taller and heavier users can feel confident developing their skills — in flatwater and boat waves, the All-Around remains stable, feeling like it sticks to the water's surface as you move.
Glide Performance
This board features three removable fins that click into place using a small plastic locking mechanism. The center fin proved difficult to attach, requiring significant pressure to pop it into place. iRocker claims that the removal of the two side fins increases speed. The fins keep the board tracking well, and we didn't feel a difference in speed removing any of them. The length and lack of a significant rocker result in a slower overall glide.
Maneuverability
As expected, turning the All-Around 11' took some effort, taking about three to four strokes from front to back to change directions. We also found that this board was easily taken by the current. It was difficult to get it to turn quickly to avoid underwater hazards or trees when on the side of a river.
Ease of Use
The included storage pack for the All-Around features wheels and the ability to adjust the straps for carrying on your back. The pack is a bit bigger than others at 36" x 16" x 18". Packed fully, it weighs around 36 pounds. Rolling it on asphalt, cement, or a boardwalk is relatively easy, but the wheels sink the minute you hit sand. Transitioning to carry it on the back is simple, but the solid bottom for the wheels hurt our hips as we walked. We do appreciate the carbon paddle, which reduces the pack's weight slightly.
The pump for the iRocker All-Around is referred to as a “full-throttle pump.” The dual chamber, triple action, is designed to make inflating easy, but our inexperienced paddlers using an inflatable for the first time, struggled to figure this pump out.
Construction Quality
The All-Around has a 6" knitted drop-stitch core, surrounded with a triple-layer composite PVC shell and double-reinforced seams. Overall, we find it about average for a lower-priced inflatable board. It shouldn't fail on you, but premium brands that cost more will also be more robust.
Should You Buy the iRocker All-Around 11?
At the mid-range of the pricing spectrum, this board has a lot of features that increase its value. It's durable and is a longer length that is designed with extended-duration paddles in mind. The All-Around provides the ability to carry more gear, other paddlers, or furry friends, and the carbon fiber paddle was a favorite among testers. A better bag design that feels more comfortable while on your back would greatly improve this board.
What Other Inflatable SUPs Should You Consider?
The biggest drawback for the iRocker All-Around is the difficulty of transportation. Once on the water, we liked how sturdy it felt. We recommend this board for taller and heavier paddlers who want to improve their confidence on a board that feels supportive. If that's not you, check out the Bote Breeze Aero, which is our favorite board overall. We also love the Red Paddle Co Voyager+ MSL for touring and how the Bluefin Cruise Carbon feels more like a rigid board than an inflatable.
