Our Analysis and Test Results
The Flybold Slackline Kit is a great line for the novice through intermediate slackliner. If you've never walked a line before, the weave of this webbing is conducive to learning, and the polyester webbing offers just enough stretch for beginning tricks and static poses. With a 49-feet main line, and an additional 8-feet of webbing on the rachet line, this model will get you started and keep you walking for a long time.
Performance Comparison
Ease of Set-up
This model uses the simple and standard 2-inch wide webbing with a ratchet for tensioning. As the popularity of ratchet systems has increased over the last decade, advances in ratchet quality have improved both the safety and simplicity of rigging a line. This line's ratchet is made with strong components and consistently operated smoothly.
The kit also has tree protection that is big enough to reach around most trees, making set up that much easier.Versatility
This model comes with webbing that is bouncy enough to be fun, but stable enough to make learning easier. This is sold as a 57' slackline kit but keep in mind, the 57' listed, is the ratchet webbing and the slackline webbing combined. That means the longest set-up will be closer to 50' once you wrap the ends around the trees/anchors. However, 50' is actually a pretty good length for a basic kit that will offer a lot of options.
Quality
Everything about this kit is a bit above average quality. The webbing is durable and shows very little signs of repeated use. The ratchet mechanism inspires confidence and after all the testing, never failed or missed a beat. The included tree protection is the longest off all of the competitions'.
Disassembly
Like all other ratchet systems, this has that sudden POP! that occurs with releasing such a large amount of tension. Unfortunately, this one manages to both, POP with tremendous force, and comes with more anticipation, due to the slight extra force needed to trigger the release mechanism. All in all, though, the release is still basically the same as the rest of the ratchet based systems.
Features
Overall, this is just a basic slackline kit with no special bells and whistles, but the ratchet is top-notch and the webbing, resilient. The kit includes some of the best tree protection of the whole bunch. The 6"x60" felt and velcro pads reached around all but the largest trees we encountered and provided average padding.
The kit did come with a backpack/storage bag, but We wouldn't buy this slackline for its bag, as its quality isn't the best.
Value
This kit has a good price to performance ratio. The parts and pieces are all of great quality and, with proper care, this line should last you for years.
Conclusion
This is a high-quality slackline that will hold up to a lot of use and please even the most seasoned slackers who give it a try. It sets up easy, with a dependable ratchet, and has a line feel that is both good for learning and great fun. however, if you want a high tech line, this probably isn't your best option.
