Under Armour Mirror Boot Cut Review
Our Verdict
Our Analysis and Test Results
The Under Armour Mirror Boot Cut is made with an 86% Polyester / 14% Elastane blend. It's only available in Black, but it does have a wide range of size availability, including Short, Regular and Tall inseams, and XS to XXL.
Performance Comparison
Breathability
This pair had decent but not amazing breathability. The waistband is doubled up, and while that offers some good tummy-control, it also makes things hotter in the midsection, right where we want more venting. Under Armour stated that the power mesh lining in the back offers “extra-breathability,” but we just noticed that our waist was sweatier when compared to those models with thinner waistbands, like the 90 Degree by Reflex High-Waist Powerflex.
Ease of Movement
The material on this pair is stretchy and moves well, but the boot-cut style is our least favorite option for practicing yoga in. The extra material flops around whenever you bring your leg up in Three-legged Downward Facing Dog, and you have to maneuver around it in crossed-legged poses.
Comfort & Fit
This pair was average for comfort. The material is not that soft but not that abrasive either. There is a rather thick elastic at the waist though, which left marks and started to irritate us after a few hours.
Durability
The Mirror pant was well made and we didn't have durability concerns right off the bat.
Style
The popularity of wide or flared leg yoga pants has been waning for years, and the current style trends don't favor this design. Some people prefer to wear a pant vs. a legging when running errands or for every-day use, which is understandable, and we didn't knock too many points off this pant for that reason alone. The seams around the rear do accentuate the area and give good shaping, but otherwise, it's a fairly plain pair. This pant is only available in Black, and we like to have some other options to mix it up a bit.
Best Applications
The Mirror Boot Cut is a classic pair of yoga pants. Like a Little Black Dress, everyone should probably have a pair of black yoga pants in their closet for various uses. The one thing this pant isn't so useful for is yoga though!
Value
Retailing for $75, this pair is a bit cheaper than some of the other options out there, like the Lululemon Wunder Under and The North Face Perfect Core options.
Conclusion
The Under Armour Mirror Boot Cut pant serves a good purpose for those that prefer the pant style to leggings for various activities, like workouts, hiking, or for every-day wear. We personally don't like to wear flare-leg pants for yoga though, since the extra material flapping around our calves is a distraction. But if this doesn't bother you, or you want them for some other purpose, then be sure to pick a pair up.
Other Versions
Under Armour also makes several leggings in the Mirror line, as well as a straight-leg pant.
