Duduma Polarized Review
Our Verdict
Our Analysis and Test Results
We tested the Duduma Polarized with Blue lenses. They have a medium fit and come with a microfiber storage bag and microfiber cleaning cloth.
Performance Comparison
Lens Quality
The Blue lenses we tested appear grey to look through while offering a pretty true-to-color experience. They're not very dark and aren't great for long-time wear in very bright light. They're fairly clear, though the polarization on the pair we tested is a little weak near the bridge.
- Polarized
- 100% UV Protection
- Visible Light Transmission Not Specified (Category 3)
- 0% HEV/Blue Light Blockage, 0% Infrared Blockage
- Color: Grey, Material: Polycarbonate
- Impact Resistant, Anti-Scratch
Even with their close-fitting wraparound shape, the Duduma have distracting counter-reflection and glare. We could clearly see our own faces with excruciating detail in the backs of the lenses while wearing them.
Comfort
These wrap-style shades are so intensely circular that they basically smash themselves against your face. If that's where you normally wear your glasses, you may not notice as much. The nose pads are quite large and, on some of our testers with shallower eyes, end up digging into the tear ducts rather uncomfortably. They're lightweight though, weighing just 24 grams, and many of our testers found them fairly comfortable and inoffensive to wear.
Frame Quality
Made of unspecified plastic, these inexpensive glasses feel like how they look — a bit flimsy and not overly confidence-inspiring. Just okay. Their bows are made in two sections that are joined together, creating another potential for fit and durability issues down the road. We had no issues with the durability of ours during our several months of testing but read dozens of online complaints about them cracking, snapping, and falling apart over time.
Style and Versatility
With plain black frames and plain grey lenses, the Duduma aren't walking down the red carpet any time soon. We don't hate them, but one tester summed them up well when he said, “they look like gas station glassed from the 90s”.
Coverage
With oversized nose pads, the Duduma couldn't ride as close to most of our testers' faces as we'd like this style to sit. That means gaps all around, for most of us. Additionally, these lenses are on the small side, further exposing the eyes to sun and glare. Those rubber giant nose pads do a good job holding them in place though.
Case Quality
These come with a simple microfiber bag closed by a plastic toggle on a string, as well as a very small, thin microfiber cleaning cloth. If you want better protection from them getting crushed, you'll have to purchase a hard case separately.
Value
Despite being one of the least expensive pairs of sport sunglasses we tested, the Duduma just didn't impress us with their performance and wearability.
Conclusion
The Duduma Polarized are a lightweight pair of wraparound shades that are just okay. They're fairly small and simple, which might make them a decent choice for infrequent use by narrow-faced folks with low expectations.
